A 1000 hrs departure with a quiet lunch cruising off Little Barrier Island, a nature reserve, can deliver your group to a wonderfully remote overnight anchorage in Great Barrier Island's Fitzroy Harbour.
A trip to the heads for a spot of fishing in the morning, followed by a picnic on the beach, an invigorating walk through native bush or a kayak trip through the bay then your choice of an evening BBQ or a meal with the locals at the Fitzroy Boating Club.
The next morning, wend your way through Barrier's outlying islands for a dash across Colville Channel and a leisurely day's sail to your next anchorage at the Coromandel's Te Kouma Harbour - where you can gather mussels and oysters for dinner.
Day Four & Five
A morning sail across the Firth of Thames and spend your next couple of days exploring historic underground fortresses, visiting wineries, and sailing from one waterside cafe to another on Waiheke Island, or simply relax at any of the wonderful secluded anchorages of the Inner Gulf.
|Your last day will involve three or four hour's sailing (right across the Americas Cup course!)
yet leaving plenty of time to include a visit to Tiritiri Matangi nature reserve for a closeup look
at some of NZ's rarest birds.
