The Yacht
A 41 ft cutter rigged, pilot house, sloop designed in Whangarei in 1975 by Terry Wells, an American designer living in NZ, and built at the Orams yard in 1979, for Pacific Ocean cruising. Waimarama means "Moon Beam on the Water" in the local Maori language.
The style of the yacht is often described as "pretty" and has a "Herreshoff look" about her with the sweeping sheerline and bowsprit.
She was brought up to the Marine Safety Authoritys Safe Ship Management Requirements during 1998-99 and will one day cruise the South Pacific again.
The SkipperGrant Adams
He has a long affiliation with the sea and water. A direct descendent of the mutinous crew aboard the British ship "HMAV Bounty", Grant has gained a lot of experience during his Swimming, Surf Lifesaving, World Championship Canoeing and Pleasure Sailing in N.Z. and the South Pacific.
He also holds a current Marine Charter License, as required by the N.Z. Marine Authorities, for Charter boating in N.Z.
